That would be so cool, but as somebody said I don't see myself asking my parents:
Can you give me some money to go to England so see people from the net who love harry potter too?
If I'm lucky that day maybe my mom will say:
Super darling I will come too!
But I don't think so
I would love to come but I don't think it will be possible even if I live in France!

That would be awesome.. but I don't know how I'd get there.. My parents were talking about doing a house-trade somewhere... maybe I can convince them to do it in London around that time. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif" /> Or just, you know, fly... O.o Cheers!~Des~

Wow! Great i dea! I would love to come, but I'm very over sensetive about lots of people I don't know... but I'm sure you are all absolutly lovly and trustable! But, I'm not sure I would a) Be allowed, sucks only just being a teenager! b) be organised enough to catch a train by my self and c) have enough money!
But any way, when the day comes, everybody tell me how it went!

Oooh, I hadn't even thought of that! But it's a fun idea, to be sure. I should hope I'd be able to manage a flight to England by that time, but eh...who knows? With my luck, I'd probably be scheduled to work that time or something.
Though I'd go, just to meet Nor. Even though I don't like tea. She could give me real life British lessons! Hahha.

Oh, yes - we'd get to meet Jas and Nor! Too cool!
Okay, Fleur, here's another one for the idea box. It's far fetched, but.... somebody out there has connections and can make plans!
What if....*whimpering into my beer at the very thought* we could somehow invite Gary Oldman and JKR? If we did enough good research and planning, it could *could* turn into a promotional thing for the release of OotP the movie.....?
After all, Immeritus did win her first fansite award - that might count for something! If she knew we were having a bash in her generalistic vicinity.....*trails off, whimpering again*
Officers? Help?
Oh, where did I put that email address for JKR!?
*disapparates whimpering*

Bhah, it has been suggested before..Nor was ready to take on Rupert Grint's gang to pass him a note for Gary heh. Seriously now, if anyone could pull something like this off, I guess we could try when the time comes. <img border=0 src="http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/w00t.gif" /> But it's still early to tell. I think JK might agree to come if it were well organised and stuff. Anyway, good idea. Um, do you think we could get to Gary's agent somehow?

Well, my friend knows Alan Rickman so could we invite him too?! He may be 58 but I'm sure he still knows how to party...
I think if we planned it well, we could get JK to come. Imagine how cool that would be...Yay! Everyone come to England! Nor and I will be waiting!
We could have it as a party for the release of the last book..or one of the films. Surely JK could take a night to come and meet the members of her favourite fansite..!

Being 14 and all. And only being 16 or 17 in a few years when the 7th book finally does come out. It might be hard for me to get to england. If you know what I mean. But...then again it'd be hard for me to get anywhere. My parents don't even know what Immeritus is. I've never mentioned it to them. I'd couldn't imagine more something I'd love to do, but I just don't think it would be able to happen.

And, inspired by "Just Jack", maybe members who can't go can organize a craft or card of some kind to send with those of us who do go... Something everybody had a little piece in making, from Immeritus. Something JKR could keep. A quilt - and everybody makes a square? Each square of cloth with some original fan art or some bit of HP memorabilia on it. (paint or sew) But I don't know who would quilt it - we'd have to pay someone.
We could start this project anytime, and get it to her somehow.... there must be a way. Even without a bash thing. I could look into the quilting end of it more if anyone else is interested.
Mag, what do you think? A quilt from Immeritus? Interested?
Thanks to those who were so patient. Crafts up now - Two Ways to Play! Version ONE and Version TWO !

How long does anyone think it will take for the 7th book to be ready? It's looking like two to three years between books at this point. So if HBP is ready next year, that means that the final installation won't be ready until around 2007, 2008 at the earliest.......
If it's 2008, that's about the time I finish graduate school and I shudder to think what my student loans owed will look like by then. However, adding an additional $2-3000 into the loans at about the right time to pay for the trip (what the hell, my sister-in-law used a student loan to fund a trip to Hawaii while she was still working on her teaching credential) might not be a bad idea. Frankly, I'd want to come on my own. My husband is so Irish-American, he hates the British. You'd think it was him who got booted out of a tenant farm and came over on the boat during the famine - not his great-grandfather! And someone would have to watch the little monsters...
It it's planned far enough in advance, I think it might be a lot of fun. We could do a Potter tour of all the locations they've used for filming at the various universities and stations. We might also do a tour of real magical spots in the British Isles.
Frankly, I wouldn't pin my hopes on getting someone like Gary Oldman or Alan Rickman to show up to any function. They might have other shooting or theater commitments at the time, nor do I think they would be inclined to go to a fan gathering. I could be wrong, but that's L.A. think coming out. Why not have a get together for the sake of getting together and getting to know the people behind the thoughts we see here all the time? Seems like a pretty good cause to me...

What a great idea, Solitaire! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/thumb.gif ALT=":ok]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> It would be great to piggyback this through a travel agency with stops for educational, spiritual, and movie set sites! Hmm, a travel agency would be essential for securing close lodging, arranging a bus or train tickets, and making an itinerary. If enough of us are getting together on it, it'll be cheaper, just as if a church group did it. (Note to self: ask HP-crazy friends and family about them joining the tour part)
And since you and Accio have both mentioned kids, we should make this a family friendly affair. After all, people of all ages love Sirius! In 2007-2008 my kids will be about 8 and 6, so they'll totally get the HP mania by then.
And someone will have to figure out how to make some butterbeer, but not me since I can't cook and I'll be crossing the pond for this. Imagine trying to get a keg through airport security! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :lol --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/yellowlaugh.gif ALT=":lol]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

I wanna come! *whines*
Well it is not likely, BUT.......
What about a bash in the US at the same time? We could set up web-cams and stuff, like they do "via satellite" and have contests etc..... Book 7 will probably be in 2008 or even 2009 depending how the movies etc... go. The paper back of OoP didn't even come out here until August of this yr, and yr and 2 months after the hardback!!! I really think they are spacing these movies and books together!
Well anyone else wanna party in the U.S? We can pick a central location and go for it!

I'm always up for a trip to England and, though, like Solitaire, I'm sure repayment on graduate school loans will have kicked back in by then, I say count me in! I do think it will be essential to work with a reputable travel agent/tour organization though. Hang on a second, I received an educational tour publication the other day at work....Found it! The group is called Education First Educational Tours. They specialize in organizing, among other things, literary and historical tours, and you can customize a tour with them rather than choose one of their pre-packaged deals. The tours include an actual tour guide (a person, not just a book or pamphlet) and they usually work in air fare, group transportation (coach bus, double decker, of course ), and lodgings. Their web address is www.eftours.com. My university choir director arranged something like this when we went on tour to England back in '96. He included a trip to Stratford-on-Avon (Shakespeare country) on our way out to Worcester Cathedral to sing Evensong. Loads of fun!
Since folks seem interested in making this a fun, educational family affair, something like this could be the way to go. I know my HP loving younger cousins would jump at the chance.
It would be neat if we could organize a little something in every country where Immeritans reside and do a webcast thing somehow; that would take quite a bit of IT networking/organization though. But the rewards would be so worth it!
