Welcome to the first ever official Immeritus Dance! We will be scheduling a dance in chat where we will all have a grand ol' party, play games, sing songs, talk, and bring along dates!

The really fun thing about this dance, though, is that it will be an opportunity for our shy members out there in lurk-land and even some of our newer posting members to "hook up" with some of our more seasoned board members. We know that Immeritus can be a huge and daunting place for our new members and we would like to make that a little bit easier for you with this event for you.

Our Chat Room is the #1 place to meet new people and make new friends. Just ask any of our old members and they will all have stories about their favorite times in chat (hey, there's a good intro question!). Good time, good times.

You will need to have an account, so if you don't already have one, register now. Then you can post here and say that you would like to go to the Winter Formal. Next, I will add you to my lists (newbie/oldbie - my discretion depending on who signs up). I will do my best to pair up people and post those lists here on the site. Once you see who you have been paired up with, it is the responsibility of the designated 'oldbie' to contact the 'newbie' and introduce themselves. We would like for you to start a conversation with each other (whether via pm's or other methods, up to you).

On the day of the dance, you need to arrive together, or as close to that as possible since hopefully we will all be in at about the same time. You will then introduce each other to the room. At the beginning of the dance you should have a new friend and by the end, hopefully a room full of them.

The date is tentatively set for the 16th of December at about 2pm PST. If I get a consensus of a different date and/or time, it can change.

Aside from sign-ups, feel free to discuss ideas for the chat date, questions you can ask each other, activities, and even outfits that you are going to wear to the dance!

The lists will be evened out so we may have to make some oldbies newbies and pair you up with some really old fogies.

The list has now been updated with what I could do to pair people up. I tried to pair up newbies with people that said they could show up without any problems first, in order of sign up. Then from there, I started to pair up people that might have the same schedule issues (like late arrivals). After that, I started to pair up the oldbies that were left. If you didn't get someone to go with it is because you indicated that you were not sure that you could make it but wanted to try (this minimizes people being left by themselves waiting for their date). This doesn't mean that you shouldn't come though! On the contrary! If you can make it, we would love to have you!!

Sign ups are now closed, but you are welcome to come anyway. You will simply have to post here and make your own arrangements. If you have any questions, please post in this thread.

What now? The oldbie (or first person listed) needs to contact the newbie to introduce themselves a little. Feel free to share country if you are comfortable, but please don't get down to specific addresses! The idea here is to make a new friend, so correspond with each other this week. Exchange chat information, or arrange a time to meet in our own chatroom to get to know them. You should be able to introduce each other to the party with a fun bit of trivia about your date.

Ooh!! No! Isn't Dec 16th a Sunday?? And it's 5:00 PM for us, so I would have to be at choir practice!! I would only be at church until about 7:30, so I *might* be able to come late...and we might maybe possibly have practice canceled, but I sincerely doubt it.

This is a lovely idea. As it's a sunday night for me and I have a busy schedule that week I'd probably have to do a Cinderella and be gone before midnight which means I could only stay for an hour ish. Would that be a problem?
