Somebody on this message board who saw the interview with J.K. yesterday wrote that she said that Lupin's faults is the love to be loved. He has to have good friends. But now, without James and Sirius :wah , maybe Wormtail will act as if he realizes that what he did was wrong, and try to be friends with Lupin. Maybe Wormtail'll turn Lupin into a Death Eater without knowing? But she also said to keep an eye out for Snape. I know it's weird, but maybe Snape'll be Lupin's friend instead???

i kind of agree with your idea about Lupin becoming dark but i don't think it will have anything to do with wormtail or snape. i think it might just have a lot to do with everything he's been throught and befriending the wrong people. but part of me hopes i'm wrong seeing as i no long have sirius as my fav character:wah :wah for the next two books i'm going to have to go with lupin:p .

Your kidding me, right? After all Lupins dealth with his intire life, his condition, loseing most of the ppl hes loved, betrayal, you think that now after all that he' going to turn at the last hurdel!

I agree with you Angel WolfCrow, i don't think Remus will turn dark. If he does, he won't prove what he and Dumbledore have been trying to prove all along that Werewolves arn't dark creatures. I think that Rmus has put too much of a battle into that. Plus we can't forget Harry if Sirius is truly dead, Harry will need someone.

I don't see Remus turning either. The one who I think will pull a switcheroo at the end is Peter. He is alive (and Sirius is dead) because of Harry decision to spare his life. I doubt very much that JK would have done that and not intended to use it later. Remember Dumbledore said something about Voldy not being happy to have a servant who is indebted to Harry Potter.



Besides, if Remus turns, I will transform myself into a literary character and personally kick his a$$.

I agree. Hopefully Peter goes good, maybe then he would redeem himself in everyone's eyes. But personally, since Peter doesn't have to do anything to redeem himself in my eyes, I hope he stays evil. I don't like the good guys.

Nononononono..... Don't let anything happen to Lupin!! Besides Ron, he's the only thing keeping me going in that book now. Lupin will never go bad!! He's too.... good! And if he does, I'll join in the @$$ kicking! But no, I feel too strongly that he'll be remaining stong on the side of good little fuzzy bunnies. Though, I do think it's a possibility that he'll be all buddy-buddy with Snape in the not-so-distant future. It makes sense- Lupin's lost all of his best friends (Peter is dead in my eyes!! DEAD!!), and he never seemed too keen to pick on Snape in his school days, though he said nothing. Now, while there's some tension, he seems to be on better terms with Snape. Anyways... Lupin rules. Almostas much as Sirius.

I think some are just a wee bit angry that the Rat is running around free (and with a cool new silver arm) while our beloved Sirius is...gulp...you know. I mean, Peter didn't actually do the deed, but he's not exactly blameless in this tragedy either. I liked Peter better before, when I figured that eventually Sirius would be cleared and get to live free. *sob*



Anyone got a psych degree? I could use some grief counselling over here...

O.k. O.k. So I guess Lupin befriending Wormtail was a bit farfetched. But I still think that there are chances of him and Snape being friends. He's lost all of his friends, either by death or to Voldemort, and with all that greif (the mental scar from Sirius's death is still bleeding), he needs a friend. Lupin didn't do anything bad to Snape, but maybe Snape still hates him for Sirius's *sniff* little prank. So I guess the chances are 50:50.

Padfoots Spirit: Why can't Sirius be your faveorite character anymore? Just because he's gone, doesn't mean he can't be your faveorite character. Cedric Diggory is still the fave of many, after all. Heck, he only became the faveorite of some people after he died...



Anyway, I don't think Remus will turn to the dark side. There just isn't anything to suggest he would. He's the kindest person in the series, and someone with that pure of a heart isn't going to become bad. He's a good guy who's had a hard life, and I don't think theres even the smallest chance he'll be bad. Lupin is my second fave character, and I'll deffend his goodness to the end!

I must agree with you luckyducky. Remus is too great to go bad. OO! If he dies I am so boycotting those books!

I would like to see Lupin and Snape become at least cordial with one another. I do not know about the rest of you, but I like Severus Snape. No matter what his feelings towards Sirius, he did make sure he was alive, and did go search the forest for Harry. When it comes to his devotion to Dumbledore and fighting Voldemort (so far) has been unwavering.



I say "so far," because Rowling is unpredictable. But I get a sense that she likes Severus. She hasn't made him a completely hateful character by showing us snippets of his past.(Plus...Alan Rickman...purr...)



I must say I am a little disappointed in the casting of Lupin in the upcoming movie. I always pictured Jeremy Irons in that part, but I do like David Thewlis, so here's hoping.
