I'll look up Spellotape then.

I know what Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are - duh =) - but I don't remember them referred to as "Durmstrang institute". That's what I meant.

Just popped in to say WOW! What great work! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START Thumbs Up --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/thumb.gif ALT=":ok]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

Padfootstar's is interesting since I've never read, but have discussed, the books in German.

I'm grateful to Froglette because I would have otherwise felt bound to drag out the French and find the names. Razz

Wow everyone! I feel like I say this every post.

Miru, I'll fix that Latin/Romanian flub. Sorry about that and thanks for catching it!

Froglette, I'll fix the French mistakes too!

Kip, you've added characters I didn't even remember about they're so minor. I'll pick out the pertinent one and add them to the table; if you're really attached to some of the ones I leave off, please let me know.

Emma, 'Lavendar' is not a typo; she's one of the Gryffindor girls who loves Divination and Professor Trelawney's class. The other is Parvati Patil.

I'm going to update the list on page one in a bit to include what PadfootStar dug up. By the way, I think you need a nickname. It can't be Star, though, because that's Sirius Star. Well, until I or someone else can come up with a better, I'll just call you Pad, or Pads, or Paddy (how Irish!); of course, we could call you PS. Oooh! Or Footy! Someone think of something better, please!!

Anyway, if you all have not already been dubbed by Star, I shall borrow her legendary sceptre and dub you all "Diggers"; feel free to change your siggies. Wink

Edit: The list on page one has been updated. I'm off to update the table.

No way...

Post Post subject: Book Titles!

Hey, the Book Titles table is missing!!! I can't believe no one caught this--you guys catch everything Wink

All right, so I'm recreating the titles table as well.

Thanks aleksNeri (just aleks?)--this helps!

Question for Nor: 'Dursleyorum' [lit: of the Dursleys]; this is used in what context? for their property? their surnames?

Another request: could you guys let me know if the table is taking a long time to load for you too? I have a broadband connection and it takes quite a bit of time. I'm not sure if it's my server or the file size. I'm afraid dial-up users will be waiting forever to get the table to show. Please let me know.

Edit: I've updates the table page; it's *very* long so make take a while to load. Please let me know if it takes too long--I'm really worried about this. I'm going to re-edit the list on page one; you'll see why when you open the table.

No way...

Hey Penny, I saw the snaps; thanks! But alas, my shovel only speaks American, and Southern drawl at that. This is one excavation I cannot add my spade to.

I still keep checking in, though, in the case anyone has scanned in their covers with any other art. Here's an example, and I don't know what language it is - can anyone tell me?

Hey Accio!!! Cool cover! Well, I feel so proud that I can say this, and I don't even speak Dutch. But that is the cover to the Dutch edition of GoF (see table for fantabulous verification).

Thanks for the offer of the spade; I know that like me you have the American editions, but if you want to look over the list on page one and suggest anything else you think ought to be added to the translation list, please, suggest away! I'm about to update the list again to add magical/dark creatures and magical plants, and some other things. I'm learning a lot on this project!

Thanks - I'm enjoying the names and translations, but I'd still like to see the art! Are you going to add that to the chart if you get enough of them?

So....um....what would I like added? Art! Art! Front, back, inbetween, sideways, Harry Potter official published book art!

Thanks, Catz! I have no idea how we'd split this since you don't have access to my server. EZ me and let me know what access you have to HTML-editing programs; I know you said you don't have Dreamweaver anymore, and we'll take it from there.

And, diggers, Accio's requesting HP artwork. I think I'll second her request; this project really has me interested in what the books look like too.

No way...

I also have a broadband connection and the table takes about one minute to load. The book titles are there immediately, and the rest appears after about one minute.
