Doesn't Voldemort say at the end of the 5th book that there is nothing worse than death, when he's fighting Dumbledore?

Well, I voted for him losing his magical powers, but Voldemort might find that having no one care about him is worse than death. And by "care" about him, I mean give him a second thought: either out of fear or dread or a desire to join him. I think that would be a rather crushing blow to him, as he seems to quite like his fame.

From Dumbledore's perspective (since he's the one that said it) living eternally but cursed in some way (unlike, maybe Nicholas Flamel who was doing a pretty good job). Or living without love, honor, goodness, since doing wrong would probably bother Dumbledore's conscience.
From Voldemort's perspective (and he's the one that's after not just rebirth but immortality) nothing, since nothing matters but power.
Interesting that the end of Book 5 has Nearly Headless Nick reflecting on his choice to become a ghost for eternity - that as much as he kids around, I thing he'd like a chance to redo his choice and "go on."
Wonder what would happen if Tom Riddle from the past was brought face to face with Voldemort of the future and made to see what he would become. Would he make the same choice if he knew what his desires would cost him?

That's an excellent possibility, medjen, about Tom Riddle meeting Voldemort. If I were Riddle, I'd be none too thrilled to see how my physical appearence has turned out! Seriously, I've often wondered that about the Death Eaters. Immortality is assumed to be one of their primary goals. Do they really want to end up like Voldemort, if that's the only way to achieve it? Somehow I can't see the elegant Lucius Malfoy as being too wild about that.

______________________________________________
" There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!" snarled Voldermort.
" You are quite wrong," said Dumbledore.
" Indeed, your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness----"
______________________________________________
Here is the quote, I love it when Dumbledore is profound!
I am not going to pretend that I know what Dumbledore is referring to here. And I am not sure that the things that Dumbledore would consider worse than death would be of import to Voldermort because he is so perverted in his thinking that normal fates would hold no horror for him.
I think that Dumbledore is speaking of the things that he, himself would find worse than death. I do wish though, that he could meet his younger self and find some reason to change. But I am afraid that he would just see it as a chance to re-do some of the mistakes he has made in order to achieve the same end.
I don't think that Tom Riddle or Voldermort would ever see the error of their ways. Some people, or wizards are just bad!

Great quote, Midi!
I voted for nothing worse than death. Voldemort has lost all his powers, and just about all of his supporters before. Only a person that evil can have no hope of something to hope for in the afterlife.

I would have thought that being ripped from your body and having to exist as a shapeless spirit for years must be pretty bad. When Voldemort describes the effects of the curse that backfired, it sounds awful. He says he forced himself second by second to exist, and had to possess animals. So basically he couldn't talk, couldn't really move, couldn't do anything for over ten years. But when he says there is nothing worse than death, he obviously thinks what happened to him isn't worse than death. I'd have thought it would be, but never mind. I have to agree with what most people say - losing his power and being ignored by everyone, unable to scare even Muggles must be worse than death - he couldn't do anything really, could he?

I think that Myrtle's death (which by her account of it was accidental) made Tiddles (Tom Riddle) feel both more powerful and vulnerable than he did his whole life." He saw how easily a life could be snuffed out. He also saw the world as a dichotomy between the powerful who could snuff out life and the powerless who got snuffed out.
I voted for a ghost because, with government petition, one can limit where a ghost can and cannot go. I would like to see Tiddles spend the rest of his days sharing a toilet with Myrtle.

In that state, Tiddles could still possess other bodies and get them to do his bidding. In that state, Tiddles could still carry around the hope that he could become fully human again.
I don't see Sir Nick with a wand even though he seems to have been a wizard, though, as Lady Grieve would contend, not a very good one. This means that, as a ghost, Tiddles would lose his power to posses bodies.
Now that would be a more fitting end to Tiddles than death - to have food and books and dungballs thrown at him by school children.

What would happen if Voldemort's wand was broken? (I'm guessing this isn't a permanent solution since all he'd have to do is get a new one like Ron did and Neville will have to do).
And what happened to his wand after he tried to kill baby Harry?

Sirius said something about the wand behind Peter's back indicating that Peter had two wands on him when he attacked Black. Also an explosion seemed to come out of the wand right after Lily and James came back - another indication that Peter used Tiddle's wand rather than his own. If Peter dropped his own wand, it may be Peter who is without a wand rather than Sirius.
How did Sirius hold on to his wand?
And why doesn't Hagrid just get someone to sneak into a wand shop and buy him a new one?

In my opinion nothing , that is mentioned...
I just wonder what ir could be and
WHY does Voldie think that death is the worst?
What about sucking his soul?
Could that be one of the things "much worse than the death"?
btw: the pure Voldies existence is (kind of) worse than death
