HaHa...Spello I think you hit that nail on the head in that last sentence....
So heres the facts we see.
DD and Harry...In a forest...No wands drawn... A broken fence...
If you look closely at both their faces you will notice that they are looking at the same thing, unless DD worried about that branch. You also notice that they both have a look of surprise...or perhaps curiosity at what they are seeing. And perhaps even...a odd smile from Harry.
Then you notice their clothes...no it might be just me but Harry seems to be wearing his pajamas...now unless I'm mistaken this is either in the , late evening, night, early morning or all his other clothes are not clean? I say pajamas because of the length of the shirt, it ends below the fence's break, or at least it looks like it.
I soon looked at the 'fence' very carefully...now if that top part were to be a branch would it not be round-ish? It looks more like it is flat or narrow if you look at the highlights of it. And the second level of the 'fence' is also broken in such a way that it looks like a broken piece of wood...not a branch.
So back to the facts....
DD and Harry...In a forest...No wands drawn... A broken fence...
If you wondering why I put a forest it is because we do not know exactly where that are at, Godric's Hollow, Forbidden Forest... or even the little wood behind my house...I have no idea...
Another rather strange thing that I caught was in the right hand side under DD hand on the branch. What does that possible look like to you. A silly light interference? Or do those look like spires, takes a bit of imagination, you never know they could be just more trees but there rather pointy even for them to fade off into the leaves if you get my hint....
Last little bit here...do you notice how everything is really...I mean really green....Now if I not mistaken, which I have been, even in winter in forests the trees are not always green? The trees hibernate? So If this isn't winter one might assume that this could be spring, early fall, or even spring right?
To finish this off I was looking back over the picture and the Edge of the book caught my attention...a swan....um no...but what is that I wonder the grey and green thing on the very bottom....thats I cannot begin to guess.....
EDIT:
I think I have an Idea what that thing is....I believe it is a Grave Marker. When I viewed in on it like 50x I sat for a few seconds then it hit me.... If that is a grave stone they could be near a graveyard or maybe they are near a house...place that has it's own graveyard....
Lets think for a moment in the GOF LV and Wormtail needed to be close to LV's fathers grave which was near his home....granted it says nothing about a forest nearby, but without a gardener grass goes crazy...hehe...
Or even the graveyard near Hogwarts the one that JKR said that they couldn't move for one of the movies because it would be important in the last books...soo....Ill leave you with that!! Ta!!

amyjenc1 - I likes your way of thinking!
I thought it was interesting that Harry and DD are looking to be very close, and outside of the school setting. Perhaps they are going to be working more along the lines of colleagues instead of student/headmaster? Perhaps DD is really going to pull Harry under his wing instead of keeping him at such a distance?
I do think that's Godric's Hollow though. Hopefully we'll get to know a lot more about HP's parents. And Sirius and Lupin, of course.

Wow, that's exciting!
I looked very hard at the grey thing, and I think it is a grave mark too. And it reminded me something: there must be a place where Harry's parents are buried, and he (we) never been there. Nobody even talked about it. It must be Godric's Hollow...
So, DD and Harry together, and they don't seem concerned. I wonder what made them go out in the wild with everything that's going on with the Order and LV. Most definitely not just a relaxing night walk in the forest... and even visiting the grave does not seem important enough to leave everything behind.
Does it have to do with the place Harry has got his scar? Some new - old magic perhaps...?

Umm...I don't see it (spires)...it just looks like tree trunk to me.
However, I see what looks like a sword/knife and it's hilt (that I didn't notice before) in the upper right, under the ER of Potter.
It's more noticeable on the hi-res shot hpana.com has now.
I'm not sure about the 'thing' on the bottom of the spine. I guess it could be a grave marker, but it is oddly shaped. No matter how many times/ways I look at it, I think of the Dark Mark, or atleast a skull. (It seems to be a stone with a face carved on it---I know, I'm hallucinating!)
Drat! Just drat. Accio July 16th, already!!!

Acciospellotape, I thought the exact same thing when I saw it!!! And now that Amyjenc1 has brought the grave to my attention, I'm 98% sure that it is Godric's Hollow.
James and Lilly would have to be barried somewhere... but if they were, "blown up," as Aunt Petunia claims, they wouldn't have been in the right state to be transported to a proper graveyard. It would have been more feasible to just barry them somewhere close to the house.
However, Avada Kadevra doesn't blow people up... at least... it didn't blow up Cedric. So that's one small bit of doubt I have. The other small bit of doubt that it's Godric Hollow is that I think I remember JKR saying that we would discover the graveyard at Hogwarts in book six. However, I can't remember where/when she said that. Can anyone else confirm?
p.s. Acciospellotape, I LOVE the South Park style Harry, Ron, and Hermione!!!! I'm a big fan of the site where you can do that and I wish I had of thought of making those characters first. *d'oh!* They look AWESOME!

Here's a linky to the interview where it's mentioned. However, it is not JKR being quoted.

Alfonso Cuaron: the man behind the magic
28 May 2004
Lizo: What was it like meeting JK, what was her advice like?
Cuaron: [...] I give you an example: There's a scene where Malfoy wants to see Buckbeak being executed. It's where Hermione punches him. And there's a sundial. We thought we need something there. I said 'Let's put a graveyard there'.
She says: 'No, you can't have a graveyard there'. And I'm like, 'Why?' She says: 'Oh because the graveyard is near this other wing of the castle and it's going to play an important part in number six because such and such and such.'
Lizo: So wow, there's a graveyard at Hogwarts that plays a crucial part in book six!
Alfonso: Six or seven. She said 'later on' - I don't have the specifics. |
So, based on that, if it is the graveyard, then it would be on the Hogwarts grounds.
I don't know....I have to stop looking at the artwork for awhile! I'm driving myself crazy!

Thanks, Lupin. I really like my siggy too. I made a bunch of the characters at that site, but I decided to use these first. I get bored quick, so I'll change soon...

I can't help thinking maybe it's not Godric's Hollow but Spinner's End. At least that is the feeling I got when I saw that. Does anyone know if Godric's Hollow is the name of the house the Potters' lived in or was it the name of the town? I know that sometimes houses have names in England. Just food for thought.....

I think this is the spot you're talking about, right on the bottom of the spine of the book. It does look like a gravestone with a skull at the base.
I've lightened and enlarged the section, so it's not as clear as it might be, but I think your conclusion is right on the mark.

Maybe the HBP is dead?
And here's the knife. It appears to be directly in Dumbledore's line of vision.
