It's a Summer for International SPEWing!
Brought to you by VolDoramort & Amandamazing42!

What could be more fun this summer than knitting or crocheting? Making a gift for a fellow Immeritan! It's the perfect time of year to make a 'quickie' gift and mail it.

Rules:

1. This is a physical swap. We're going to need an address to mail your gift to. It doesn't have to be a home address. Anywhere where you get mail: Work, school, neighbor, friend's house, etc.

2. As with other physical swaps, this one is limited to Club members and well known, "older" board members with permission from the swap organizer only.

Anyone underage must have permission from their parents.

3. The distribution of names will be random, and SECRET! Don't tell anyone who you're yarning for!!

4. To keep it fair, the gift must be a 'quickie'. A bookmark, a hat, a scarf, socks, a belt...you get the idea.

How to Participate:

Post here before JUNE 2, 2008. DO NOT POST ADDRESSES HERE! Leave your name, country, your likes/dislikes in yarn color/make (acrylic, wool, cotton, etc), shoe/sock size, etc. If you have an allergy to a type of yarn, let us know! (I.E., My mom's allergic to wool)

PM address to me (VolDoramort). If I don't have an address for you by June 6, you can't be paired up with someone.

Signing up = Participating. It's only fair! Should you find yourself unable to participate for any reason after the sign up list is closed, contact the swap organizer so that other arrangements can be made.

The list closes the night of June 3rd, and names distributed by June 7th.

You will have until the end of July to make and send your project. The deadline for this swap is 15 August.

List of Participants:
1. Canute, Switzerland (who would definately NOT want a fuzzy pink cane cozy.) Wink
2. Pen, USA
3. Dora, USA
4. Mina, Australia
5. Weasley, USA
6. Star, USA
7. Amanda (amandamazing42), USA
8. Cazzadragon, Austraila
9. Solitare, USA
10. Meggy, USA
11. Moon, UK
12. Plynn, USA
13. Winky, Ireland
14. Tara, USA
15. Ife, USA

Feel free to spread the word with one of these:

How strict is your deadline? I would love to participate but I'm moving in July and attending Portus. Would it be possible for me to mail before school starts August 19th?

There's some leeway with it. I wanted an easy to remember date that's before school starts back up.

Sign me up Dora. I think I qualify as an Older board member Very Happy *gets out cane*

Prefer wool or cotton. Microfibre blends are good too.
OK, at the risk of repeating myself and opening up the joke round, I don't like pink and I don't care for fluffy either. Pink and fluffy is bad. Trust me on this one. But then you all knew that already, didn't you? Mr. Green
While I'm very fond of blue, I do like other colours. Maybe not olive green, puce, chartreuse, or neons, but purples, yellows, oranges, greens, etc. are all good.
Foot size is 7.5.

I would love to sign up, but I'm not quite sure if I'll be able to make the deadline. Would it have to be sent by July 31st, or get there by July 31st? So far, if there's a little bit of lee-way with the deadlines, then I think I'll be able to sign up. With the operative word being think.

*joins*

Me = USA

Likes: greens, blues, greys, yellows, pinks, reds, pretty much any color really except in neon/blinding shades.

Dislikes: I'm really not much of a "yarn snob," the possible exception being fun fur or other novelty yarns used alone. Mixed with something else it becomes more interesting to me. No yarn allergies as of yet! ETA: but please no scratchy yarn! (Thanks for the reminder, Mina!!)

Shoe/sock size: US size 9/UK size 6-7 (and narrow; my feet are ridiculous like that) (I do like having a smaller UK size Razz ; don't believe the conversion charts out there--I did and ended up trying on shoes that were waaay too big on me in the UK, hence 6-7 UK is correct)

Hat size: normal running a shade on the smaller size (but not by much)

I'm in! I'm in! I'm in! I'm in!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good in Australia! And it's getting cold here! *hint hint*

I like colourful yarn for smallish projects, but not flouro (actually, I don't know why they even make anything that's not a safety vest in flouro), and not scratchy if I'm to be wearing it (scratchy wool drives my very very dry skin insane in winter. I scratch enough as it is!). My feet are a size eight, but that's Australian. *grabs measuring tape* foot is 25 cm (10") long, if that helps!

Ooh I'm looking forward to finding out what I get to knit!

I hope lots of people join!

Sounds fun. Count me in.

Yarn: I love me some wool but any natural fibers will do. Is it possible to have an allergy to acrylics? A bit itchy and scratchy.

Colors: greens, oranges, reds, browns. Earth tones.

Size: Head-big, feet-small. Smile US 6.5 for the feet. I would just go large for the head.

I am in the US.

Fun, fun!

I moved the deadline back two weeks. There's still a bit of a leeway with it though. Smile

And so I know I have it done:

Likes: greens, blues, soft pinks, purples. As for what the yarn's made of, it doesn't matter to me.

Dislikes: Orange. Although, the softer pastel orange is okay.

Sizes: I'm a 10 or an 11 with shoes in US sizes. Oh, and they're wide. As for hat size, the 'one size' size fits perfectly fine.

That's why the socks fit then Pen! I knit for a smaller, but much wider foot :0) Mystery solved.

Okay, if the deadline is a bit flexible, count me in!

Star- USA

No allergies and no preferences for type of yarn used.

I love muted greys and blues as well as black and deep jewel colors: red, blue, purple and green. As shocking as it may seem, I really don't like orange, yellow or pink unless they are a minor part of the project.

Shoe size: 10 US/?UK (bigger is better)
Head size: 7.25" (I only know that because I've been measured for my cap and gown. )

Oh! I'd love to join please! I asked my dad and he's alright with it Wink

Manda- USA

No allergies to yarn that I know of, and I don't really have a preference as for yarn used. I don't really care for some novelty yarns, but I'll be okay if I get something with them!

I like earth tones, neutrals, and cool colors. Some of my favorites are smoky grey, powder blue, deep red, mint or deep green, and tan. Oh, and of course yellow and black too. Neon colors aren't a favorite of mine, but I don't mind them.

Shoe size: 9 US/6-7UK

Head size: Normal, I guess Mr. Green

Hooray! Immy is finally back so I can sign up Smile

Um, so yes... I thought I'd give this a go... even though I know NOTHING about knitting etc, there is at least one thing I can do so I'm going to do it Razz

Dragon - Australia

I like blues, greens, purples and reds - but I'm sure I'll like anything thrown at me, though pink is my least favourite colour. I would love something soft rather than something scratchy.

I'm an 8.5 - 9 shoe size here in Oz which looks an online converter says is 10 - 10.5 in the US and 8 - 8.5 in the UK. My head is about 56 cm (22 inches).
I have to admit though, I would prefer it if I didn't get socks (only because I've already received a pair of lovely woollen socks from an Immeritan and I'd like something different Razz )

Yipes... I feel so nervous signing up for this swap! I'm not one of the spew-ers...

*chases tail*
