Welcome to the limerick thread. It is open for any who would like to give it a try.

What is a limerick?

(I copied and pasted this from the Limerick Contest Thread.)

A limerick is a five line poem where lines 1, 2, and 5 have three beats and lines 3 and 4 create a couplet with two beats each. They have an ‘a a b b a’ rhyme scheme and, while limericks are often thought of as being funny, they don’t always have to be as these examples show:

There once was a site called Immeritus,
Which was all ‘bout a bloke they call Sirius.
So sexy he was
that fangirls threw their bras
And most other folks found them delirious.

A man in the form of a dog
who faced even death all agog,
this bravest of men,
he smiled and then
was lost in a terrible fog.

Omg, Dead_Sexy, that last one is hilarious! These are all very good. I think people might be under the impression that this is a thread for you to feature your own work alone. But, since you're obviously inviting others to post their own limericks, I'm here to second your motion. I'll also make it a little clearer and go ahead and change the thread title so others are better aware.

*dies laughing* I second Pen's words that the third one you've posted (The Door) is absolutely hysterical!! That is truly pee-your-pants funny.

I've enjoyed all of the limerick's you've written so far Dead! I, like you, had entirely WAY too much fun entering the contest. I am going to come up with somemore and post them here too, methinks! Can't wait to see some others.

Yay!!!! The Door is my favorite so far. I like the funny ones best. And the ones that rhyme with Nantucket. But I won't post those. Well, to celebrate Pen's help with the thread title, I'll post 2 more. They aren't so funny, but they aren't too awful. (I think) --

Soo, I couldn't think of anything when the contest was on, and then last night, now that it's finished, a limerick just came flashing into my mind from nowhere, so, I grabbed into the darkness for a pen and paper, knocked over my pen time (nearly waking the whole house) got a pen and grabbed down what I thought was my big scribble book and before I forgot, wrote my limerick down in the pitch black:

For Sirius Immy still mourns,
But Snape baby don't be forlorn
The great HBP
Is the man for me
I was Poncy before I was born!

Note 1: Sirius is still my number one, but there's enough love to go around, and some of it is for my Snape!
Note 2: It was not, in fact, my scribble book, but my history homework. Try explaining THAT to your teacher.
