MAG INVASION!
This post has been moved to chat since even though it was a suggestion, it isn't really something that we are doing as a site or for the site. So, here it goes in chat! And now with the addition of Fandom Portkeys, this thread moves, yet again!

OK, through popular demand on Live Chat I had to come and post this. Seeing as we might be getting our last Harry Potter book in a couple of years, we could do a major meeting party thing when it finally comes out.

And what better place do party than England, the place where it all started. I can imagine we won't be the only ones heading that way, but if we put enough planning in this it could get big and pretty. Woot!

Now, US and Australian residents please don't throw stones! It's just that England's the middle ground for everybody, and heck, who wouldn't want to meet everybody right at King's Cross? Smile

Ok, I hope the poll's alright. Feel free to state opinions. I want to get as much feedback as I can. What do you think, should we give it a try?

-Sorry if there's another place discussing this!

[dead poll deleted]

Yay! *proud to be one of the original demanders from Livechat*

It was Fleur who actually came up with it, but I was right there supporting it all along Wink !

Anyway, I think it's a brilliant idea. It may be a BIT hard to get everyone from all over the world in one place (just a bit), but I'm sure we could manage it, if we were committed. (And I'm committed, I think it'd be great!)

Being only 15 and still at school, on the other side of the world no less, there's not a lot I can do to help get it organised right now, but by the time book 7 rolls around, I think I'd be out of school and planning to travel anyway. My vote on the poll would be somewhere between the first two, I'd really LIKE to come, I'd just have to organise how to get there.

nyway, being kicked off computer now, so I'll drop in later and see what's happened.

Aw, Sorry I forgot to put that option in the poll, and now I can't edit, well I think you could go for the second option then, it's still positive feedback. Woot!

Righto chaps whilst Fleur was posting this me and Grey Screen were having a big discuss on this....

I think with a lot of planning, I'm willing to devote some time to it, we could make this huge!

First off we thought it's a few years away and we have time to get all the necessary detail and legal blips in order.

We though to start off we'd just get peoples opinions on it, then we'd see where we were standing...

We also thought with a bit of funding...(oh no it's all a ploy to get our money...haha NO!) depending on how many people are interested and this doesn't just mean the UK peeps, if everyone say put in a pound (or whatever your willing to spare), not much and with a few years to save it up you wont even miss it! We could rent out some kind of hall thing and throw a 'End of an era' bash. We thought a Hogwarts Great Hall theme of course, Griff, Slyth etc decor.

<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :sortg --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/sorting_gryf.gif ALT=":sortg]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :sorts --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/sorting_slyth.gif ALT=":sorts]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :sorth --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/sorting_huff.gif ALT=":sorth]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :sortr --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/sorting_raven.gif ALT=":sortr]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

Now this is just to start with, I'm sure many more ideas will come flooding in when you guys hear about this, (hopefully <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :pupeyes --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/puppy_dog_eyes.gif ALT=":pupeyes]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ) we just wanted a bit of feedback on it...or just let us know if you think it's a dumb bum idea.

I thought that we could involve the other HP fan sites, you know post on them and see what the reaction is...

If we could make this really big we might even get media attention and who knows if I can pull some strings I might be able to convince Professor Flitwick ie. Warwick Davis when I see him next to join us, and if it attracts the media who knows who else... <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START Wizmote --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/witch.gif ALT=":wiz]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot!(Disclaimer, I know that not everyone who is a HP fan can just up and go without a parent or guardian's permission but we'll sort all that out later...plus other little bugs in the purkle steam that is our idea....)

oh - I first thought this was for the next book, not the LAST book! Now I'm reconsidering... Couldn't we do a bash anywhere Immeritus fans could congregate? For example, I know a few of us are in the SE US, so maybe Atlanta or Charlotte would be central enough for those too poor to go to England. We could simulcast it on the web, too, for those who are stuck in Alaska or something. We do have plenty of time.

But now that I think of it... hmmm - I think I could scrape up enough dough to fly me and the kids - and the husband, must bring the husband - and a babysitter, can't forget that, to England in time for Book 7! But maybe we should have the party not exactly on the release date. Maybe about a month or so after, so everyone will have read the book. I know the first thing I'm going to want to do with that book is curl in a corner, ignore the kids, and do no housework whatsoever until I've finished it.

Of course, this makes my husband, who is reading over my shoulder, guffaw and choke since I typically do no housework whatsoever...

Well...

I'm all up for it, It is a really good idea and it would be really fun But(allways a but) I don't think my parents would go for the idea of it, I would really love to go but my parents would be more or less like.. "So, you want us all to go off to England to meet a bunch of people you met on the net, just so you can have a party because a book series ended."

My parents suck.

So unless we just happento be in LOndon on the day of the party, I don't really have a chance of going.

Bah.

Lol, Kings Cross is 35 minutes from me, so sure! I suspect I'll be arriving on platform 9 and all. As a result, I'll be happy to provide cake etc, since I'll be the nearest. Woohoo! Butterbeers are on me! Woot!

Well, I have no problem with this in principle. It's still a bit away. Who knows if I will have the money or time then, but for now, I'm all for it.

I shall never forget that the probability of a miracle, though infinitesmally small, is not exactly zero.

Oh how terribly fun! I'm all for it, too, but I would not invite people from other HP sites because I don't know them. Then it would be meeting total strangers. I know you guys, even though we've technically never met. You know?

*Cnorts* Anyway, I agree with Hermoine in that I've no bloddy idea where I'll be so many years from now. I might be studying abroad in England... or I might be stuck in college at home, in which case an American reunion would be nice as well, though not the same.

Hmm. .. I put "count me in" since I want to go to England anyway. Even though Nor questions my choice of destinations.

My daughter is two now. I didn't want to travel overseas with her until she was about four. So, count me in, but the sooner the plans start formulating, the better!

Oh, and Nor - youhave to supply the TEA!

Aw Jasmine, I do cool cakes too... how about, I make a giant Sirius-shaped one? You live an hour from Kings' Cross? As in, your trains go into Kings Cross?! Woot, you must live really near me! *goes to check out the 'Where are you from' thread to see if you already said*

Ooh! You do a Sirius cake and I'll do an Immeritus one! (Or maybe a Lupin one? Or Voldy with his catsuit? *gets quite overexcited*).
