<font color=FF99FF>Yeah, talk about combining my two obcessions of the moment...

I've been watching (and re-watching and re-re-watching) LOTR, and I've been thinking there are some similarities between Sirius and Aragorn... I mean, physically, it's obvious. When I saw Aragorn for the first time, I screamed (I swear) "Sirius! He looks just like Sirius! *giggles*" But then I started thinking and found other things alike.

For example, Aragorn is responsible for helping Frodo destroy the Ring... he is the first one to get to the Hobbits and really help them. Sirius helps Harry to destroy Voldemort... okay, it's stretched, but still.

Ah, shucks, I just wanted to discuss how much I love Sirius and Aragorn both. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif" /><img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" /></font>If It jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway. &lt;teasing&gt; As long as you don't say 'Ooo! Viggo should play Sirius!!', I can deal with parallels. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> &lt;/teasing&gt;

*decides not to say that Viggo should play Sirius...*

Oh man Hermi dear, you're the one who got me hooked on LotR, and I think there are quite a few parallels between them. For one, they look alike, and if Sirius is as hot as Aragorn, I'll die a happy girl. For another, both have leadership qualities. Sirius and James were the 'ringleaders' of their group, and Aragorn has this... thing where all he has to say is jump and you ask 'how high, my lord? Will the sky suffice?' The both carry heavy emotional scars on them as well, and it's fairly obvious with both of them at times. And they're both outlawishly outcasts, the poor dears. They're also clever and witty.

I hate Arwen. I see a lot of Sirius in Aragorn, and him having some other girl, oh MAN does that make me jealous. When he told her "it was just a dream" and tries to hand her the pendant, I was giggling insanely. It's not that I don't wish him happiness, but I don't wish him happiness with her. Psh. Sirius/Aragorn deserves better.

I saw Two Towers yesterday with Mag, and had similar thoughts. (Well, sort of...)

He reminds me a lot of Sirius during the movies, mainly because of his looks, but also because of that one fine quality of being good at heart and yet dangerous at the same time. He also looks...well, haunted no matter what, which is something I associate with Sirius.

However...forget it. I find it somehow wrong to mix these two legacies up, even if by just one actor. -grins- Besides. Vigo's Argentinean.

(For your sake, Hermi, I shall close this by saying that if it weren't for that, I'd be very happy to have him. As Sirius, that is.)

The sad thing is, I've been saying that since The Fellowship of the Ring. I am so desperate for them to get a good Sirius...but they'll never choose him. But, personally, I think he'd do a really nice job. *sigh* Such is life...

I think Viggo Mortensen would make a great Sirius. Just look how much he looks like him, dressed as Aragorn. Who knows, maybe he dosn't even need a new costume <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START Very Happy --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

And he has a lot of experience in playing tough and sneaky, but sensitive guys.

And he's Danish-American. That's the best part. A great, now worldfamous actor, has actually been living in Denmark! Do I have to say I'm Danish myself? <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :lol --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->

Anyway, I didn't really thought about how much Aragorn reminds of Sirius before I saw this, but now it seems so obvious.

But I think that Jason Carter would be even better. Sorry, Viggo.

I wouldn't say that he actually looks bad, but shaved and with normal hair, he just don't look like our Sirius. But we could come up with some who are worse, can't we?

1. Tobey Maguire, a little too geekey

2. Orlando Bloom, a little too elvish

3. Sean Connery, a little too old.

WOW!! I thought I was the only person who thought "SIRIUS!!" when i seen Aragorn for the first time. I think he would have made a great Sirius. I must admit I was disappointed at first when i heard G.O was going to play him. i know he's a great actor and all but i kept thinking of him in "The fifth element" and started sobbing

Thanks Mrs Black for sending me that picture of Oldman in that movie. I have uploaded it to our website and you may all now share it as you will. Remote linking is allowed.

<img src="http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/oldman.jpg]

The url of the image ispages.prodigy.net/siriusb...oldman.jpgHe's not so bad there. I can see him turning into Sirius Black depending on the type of voice and acting he decides to do for this character. The thought of him in the 5th Element did blind me from ever thinking he could be Black. I hope that we are all seriously misproven.

Then again, who could manage to reach the pedestal that we have put our beloved in?

I've always had a sort of mental connection between Aragorn and Sirius. Not that I think they look alike or that their situations are alike, it's just that they kind of...um....(urgh, this is difficult)... they kind of *feel* alike. As if they were brothers separated at birth and brought up in different worlds or something.

Concerning Viggo...superb actor, and they could really make him look like Sirius. Most actors look very little like the characters they play in real life. Hair and makeup and lighting and costume and facial hair do a lot more than one would think. Still, number one, he's an American, so they wouldn't hire him. Number two, knowing him he probably wouldn't want to do another big-budget, high-publicity movie even if he had the time. Number three, he has a really irritating attitude towards Harry Potter. Thinks they are "not unlike the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew", that they're just "a fun thing for kids", and that it "really has nothing to do with the real world." You can't really blame him. He has obviously never read the books and seems to be judging the series by the movies (they were talking about how the Harry Potter movies compare to the LOTR movies when he said the above). I personally think the Harry Potter books should never have been made into movies at all. We get this superb literary series that has gotten lots of people more into reading and what do they do? They go and make a movie out of it. And now everyone thinks Harry Potter is a kiddie flick. Tragic...

To end on a lighter note, Aragorn rocks! I can't decide who is greater...Aragorn or Sirius? Oh well....they both rock! In different ways. Lord of the Rings is a great series, by the way, to those of you who haven't read it. It requires a fairly intelligent reader with a good memory and a supply of stick-to-it-ness, and it taxes the attention span much more than Harry Potter does. But it still is a good read if you can swallow it. So vast....

Vast yes, ah, so vast. Now, I wonder, which is longer, the Lord of the Rings trilogy or the Harry Potter series (the ones that are out so far, or as the total of all 7 when they are out). I mean, Harry Potter will have more pages, but it is definitely larger print so...I don't know.

Back to the subject, Sirius and Aragorn are the greatest! I will walk down the halls at school with a bemused smile on my face, just thinking about them, until I accidently bump into someone or something.

Ah, Sothis, you are all too right. Harry Potter would have done best to remain a book, not a movie, although I am quite glad that Lord of the Rings is a movie along with a book. I mean, the movie is so wonderful, just thinking about it is hindering my ability to type this message...Agh...lAsdgdsklj kgjk

Ah, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Sirius, Aragorn, how can we compare their glories?

*stares at Sira for long moments wondering if she heard right* Erm.....Sira? Are you feeling okay? You actually AGREE with me on the movie issue? *suspicious glance* You, who would come sailing valiantly to the movie's defense, every time I ripped on it? You, whose entire dresser space is devoted to Harry Potter legos (which never would've been produced if not for the movies). Could you explain? My feeling of security has been lessened by your unexpected comment, your movie-obsession was always a constant in my life.

*grins widely* Oh wow, I do that ALL THE TIME. There will be times when I'm doing nothing and thinking about them at the end of the period and I'll suddenly start and realize I've been staring into space with a huge idiotic grin on my face and then I'll look around embarrassedly hoping nobody noticed.

Ah, Sothis, when will you learn? I agreed with you that foil is not two syllables, didn't I? Why can't I agree with you here? While the movies are good in their own right, they have succeeded in ruining my impression of Gilderoy Lockhart and Snape, just two name a few. And I fear they shall also ruin my impressions of Dementors, the glorious Sirius Black, the glorious Remus Lupin, and the horrid Peter Pettigrew. Now Harry Potter LEGOs are just plain wonderful, and their not trying to make them look realistic (like the movies are), as LEGOs aren't supposed to look realistic. No, they are just fun trinkets to Harry Potter fans...(I want the LEGO Sirius Black! YAGH!)
