I do agree that Shawshank Redemption will suit Sirius well. I think Sirius is the type that will go for a serious and heavy drama kind of movie though he'll change to a lesser one (like comedy) once in a while.

I agree with Snuffles. Sirius would love a little bit of everything. He seems like the kind of guy who would have a list of personal classics, each for its own reason. And of course he and James would be able to randomly quote scenes of their favorites together while the other marauders laughed and encouraged them. And I know I'm off the movie topic, but they would watch SNL religiously!

Maybe I'm on my own on this one but I could definately imagine being a pretty big Tarantinofan! He seems the type of person who would enjoy Quentin's great classics like Resevoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, and I could see him and James chilling out with a couple of Butterbeers and watching a total Tarantino marathon<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START Thumbs Up --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/thumb.gif ALT=":ok]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> !! But I agree with all who siad that Sirius is probably into alot of different movies and different genres so I could equally imagine geeting weepy<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :pupeyes --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/puppy_dog_eyes.gif ALT=":pupeyes]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> watching a good romcom as I could imagine him on the edge of a seat shouting at the television telling Indy to get the hell out of there while he still can! And I have to say he would have enjoyed some of the good adventure movies of the 80's such as The Lost Boys, The Goonies and one of my favourites Stand by Me. The Marauders could have probably related to the four young guys setting off on a journey of 'self-discovery' together and the friendship that they had. Sirius reminds me of Gordie alot too, being shunned by his own family and overcoming alot in his life. One thing I'm sure of though is that Sirius would have been a major movie-buff........and an avid reader of Empire!!<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START Clap! --><img src=http://pages.prodigy.net/siriusblack/boards/smilies/clap.gif ALT=":clap]<!--EZCODE EMOTICON END-->~Anna~

'Excuse me, Professor Flitwick, could I borrow Wood for a moment?'

Wood? thought Harry, bewidered; was Wood a cane she was going to use on him?

But Wood turned out to be a person, a burly fifth-year boy who came out of Flitwick's class looking confused...

Uh! I love you! I'm a total movie buff, and even though I live in America and have to pay ten dollars to get it, I love Empire. It's the best magazine.

I totally agree with you about Tarantino. Sirius has good taste, so he'd appreciate Quentin's work, and it is the perfect blend of comedy and action. Sirius and James would love it. The thought of them watching a marathon just made me love them more... if such a thing is possible.

I totally think he would love Pirates of the Caribbean. You all might not agree but I think Gary played Sirius a little like Johnny Depp played Sparrow. That scene in the Shrieking Shack really reminded me of Sparrow in the way Sirius was acting...like he was drunk. *big grin*

I also think Sirius'd like Star Wars...c'mon it's a classic! I can see him and James and the others pretending their wands are lightsabers and all of that stuff. And yes! I can so see him watching Chick Flicks and getting weepy. Hehe. He would definitely like action...he'd probably enjoy James Bond..him and James would get a right laugh out of that one. I can see James going around school going 'I'm Potter. James Potter.' And Sirius would love to be a spy and do crazy stunts all over school.

You know...I think he'd also enjoy Finding Nemo, Shrek and those kid cartoons which adults can also enjoy. I think he's a big kid at heart and I can see him enjoying those as much as the action and horror films.

...you think that Gary Oldman played Sirius like a "cross between Keith Richards and Pepe Le Pew?" Well, that's how Johnny Depp described it...

Sorry to bring this up here, but Keith Richards is such a great example of a guy who used to be really good looking, but his looks were destroyed by life (in this case, drugs and alcohol). I don't think that Sirius's description of being somewhat wasted away is as bad as Keith, but hey - he's a living illlustration of "just say no!"

Well, I'll be honest I'm not too familiar with Keith apart from the fact that he was in the Rolling Stones and I don't know the other person but for some reason Gary's performance in the Shrieking Shack reminded me a bit of Johnny Depp in Pirates. Then again, it could just be me.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Although in Sirius' case it wasn't really his fault that he was wasted looking, Keith's was brought on by addiction wheras Sirius' wasted looks are from his long years in prison.

I think that Sirius would enjoy lots of different types of movies - as long as they are funny and inventive. But I can imagine him watching action movies like "Die hard" - waiting for the next cool remark and laughing about the funny special effects.

He would also enjoy movies that deal with rebellious / illegal behaviour like pirate movies or The Fast and the Furious. Movies that question law, rules, politics and often deal with illegal actions but on the other hand promote values like friendship, honour and loyalty as the real important stuff in life.

Yes, Sirius would definitely love a huge variety of flicks (if, in fact, he knew what they were).

I can see him preferring, above other things, the true man action stuff: Star Wars, James Bond (that would have to be in there because like him, it's a gorgeous blend of sleek sophistication,seduction and ACTION!!), maybe Die Hard (much to the dismay of all his adoring girlfriends). But he'd love other stuff too. Comedies would form a big part of what he'd watch with the Marauders along with the action films, stuff like (again) Monty Python or maybe things like American Pie. Hey, they were teenage boyish guys!!

Contrary to what someone else has said, I think Sirius wouldn't watch the chick flicks with girls- he'd coax them gently into a good horror film, but just the classics- a really macabre black and white film (sorry I can't really put specifics- film and song names go straight out of my head when I try!!). He'd have seen it by himself and not gotten too scared, but used it to just the right effect with his lady-friend: upon the appearance of the hideous beast, she emits a powerful squeal and jumps right into his arms!!! Mission accomplished, and I'm sure the movie would soon be forgotten...

Alone, Sirius would definitely watch classic films that show true noble human qualities- Casablanca or the Shawshank Redemption, absolutely, and I'm sure he'd also have a thing for It's A Wonderful Life- that would get him teary with the thoughts of the warm family life he doesn't have. Romance-wise, it'd have to quirky-- Benny and Joon a fantastic example!!

Well done, guys, your remembrance of good movies is much better than mine. Sorry if it seems I've taken your ideas, but I wanted to put them into my mind's context!!
-Tinka xx

That is exactly what I was thinking! Probably because The Godfather I and II have been on TV every weekend for the past couple of months. PLus is an excellent movie and a modern classic. And I don't know any guy who doesn't like it. I don't know any gals who don't like it, either, but I know some who haven't seen it.

I can seriously see them quoting the famous lines:
Code::
Leave the gun. Take the cannolis
Code::
Luca Brazzi sleeps with the fishes

Among other classic favorites: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and The Great Escape. Those are the kind of movies that people watch so many times that they recite much of the dialogue!

I thought I would be the only one picturing the guys watching Star Wars, but I also agree that they would be quoting right along with all the Monty Python films. For some strange reason Scent of a Woman popped into my head, in particularly when Pacino yells "If I was half the man I used to be, I'd take a flamethrower to this joint."

I think he would have loved "The godfather" (pun intended)... I can just see him watching the movies over and over again. He just seems like the guy who would say "go to the mattresses"

Like a lot of people, I think outwardly he would love to watch comedies such as Monty Python ("She turned me into a newt!" All the while he is pointing at Lily,) and action movies such as Die Hard and The Fast and the Furious. He'd also watch the classic movies that everyone would get if you quote them ("James, I am your father." "NOOOO!") For some reason, I can also see him watching movies such as 300, Troy, and the Final Destination movies, still violent, action-filled movies but with a deeper sense to them, for someone who would look for it.

Inwardly, I think he would be the type to watch, not "chick-flicks" (which are generally romantic comedies, besides movies you cry at,) but sad movies that center around death, for when he is in a melacholy mood. Sirius is, despite how some people see him, a deep person, he just doesn't like to spread the fact around ("Think of my reputation!" I'm the BAD BOY Marauder.)
