Nuit Blanche (White Night)
Nuit Blanche (White Night)
"Here are Moony, Padfoot, Prongs and Wormtail, running in the forbidden forest, and a very big lot of details around.

This is the kind of picture that always looks better in your imagination than when you actually try to paint it. Have you noticed the way those forest animals, such as wolves, stags and even black dogs, are made to be invisible in a dark forest? And with my watercolours, I felt like a film director trying to shoot a night scene under a Californian sun."

You know, this illustration, it really is wonderful. I have an affinity for really gnarly trees, and that one is awesome. I also like that you put an owl in there, and looking for Wormtail was like playing "Where's Waldo"!. It was cool when I found him, and it makes much more sense than him keeping up with the big boys!

The coloring of the sky is gorgeous. It took me forever to find That Rat, though, I was looking in the wrong place, hoping someone was stepping on him. All of them are beautiful, and I love how Padfoot's tongue is wagging out.

I know you expressed concern over painting a night picture, but this is very serene and the twisty features of the tree really give that "deep in the woods feel. I also agree with the "Where's Waldo" comment. Having Wormtail being carried by James not only makes sense since he wouldn't be able to keep up, but it's also appropo for the character. Sirius' tongue is a riot! Exactly the playful element to tell us all about him.

This is just phenominal! The painting of a night picture really makes it interesting! Thumbs Up
